Different UV resistant solarization fibers are offered. All are all silica multimode step index fibers.
They combine a modified core material and hydrogen loading which provides excellent transmission in UV.
The polyimide coating increases these performances particularly for high temperature applications.

Note : this hydrogen loading technology has limitation for small diameters fibers, and so different specific versions, and other diameters, could be offered on request.
   
 
 

Solarization

All silica fibers with high-OH silica cores are traditionally used in applications within the UV region of the spectrum.
In these standard fibers the limitations for UV light transmission are the intrinsic attenuation and the additional losses due to UV. These resistant solarization fibers overcomes the age-old problem of UV induced attenuation.

Due to improvments in fiber treatments and preform modifications the new FD fibers are transparent in the wavelength region below 230 nm, even during UV radiation, and exhibit useful transmission below 190 nm. 
The FD serie shows very stable output after the light is turned off where the other fibers show a recovery period resulting in an unstable light loss situation.
 
 
 

Applications

Solarization is a change in fiber optic material characteristics due to illumination with high intensity UV light. This can dramatically increase the attenuation of the fiber. These new specific UV fibers can be used with deuterium lamps, deep UV laser sources, and for UV spectroscopy.

Such fibers are ideal for :
• UV spectroscopy, absorption or fluorescence
• Process control
• Lithography
• Excimer laser delivery
